For older roofs where the metal has begun to oxidize, a pressure clean may result in messy striping, and the finish will be uneven. In these situations we recommend a roof soft wash, which is where an environmentally-safe chemical solution is applied to the roof and cleans the area without causing any damage.

Soft washing is the way to go with tiled roofs. Soft washing involves applying a chemical treatment to the roof to remove dirt, mold, lichen, and algae.
What about pressure cleaning your tile roof?
We don’t recommend pressure cleaning your tile roof.
Pressure cleaning can result in blowing out pieces of the concrete pointing and removing the protective coating on the roof tiles. Both of these problems usually lead to serious roof leaks. Pressure cleaning is fine when followed by re-pointing and repainting, as any damage will be fixed throughout the works to be completed, but it is a problem when all you need is a clean.
Therefore, a soft wash has none of these downsides. It efficiently removes debris without causing any damage. Sometimes we don’t even need to climb on your roof!
