What do you mean, “Wash my house?” I wash my car or my dog, but who in the world would wash their house?
My first reaction to hearing about house washing was something along those lines. I’d never seen anyone wash their house. And why would I have? You’d look crazy with a hose washing off your house like it was your lawn. Or think about my dog even, who runs through an obstacle course of muddy puddles and holes he’s dug in our garden. He needs a wash before hopping onto the couch. But my house? Waste of time and money. No thanks.
However, the more I thought about it the more it began to make sense. EVERYTHING gets dirty. You, the bathroom, the kitchen, the kids, the pool, and on and on I could go. Your car, for example, might get a rinse off in the rain, but the algae, mould, leaves, cobwebs, bird poo and fingerprints, eventually all build up. Trust me, I know. I remember my first car when I was a teenager and in my early 20s. It was my parents old Suburb Outback (which they had lovingly fixed up for me), and it was a great car. Unfortunately, I wasn’t really a car person, so I washed it every six months. Probably was longer to be honest. Do you know what a car looks like after not being washed for six months? A year? Goodness. It was covered in algae, had a plant growing out of a crevice, and there was an ants nest somewhere in the car…
Our houses are no different to our cars. Given enough time… yikes.
Now, you may ask, do I HAVE to wash my house? And my response to that would be something along the lines of “Do you have to wash anything?” Do you have to wash your car? Do you have to wash your dog? Do you have to mop your floors? Do you have to wash yourself?
Probably definitely yes to that last one. But in general, you could probably never wash your car, dog, or floors.
But yeah nah that’s gross.
And there is no way on this earth that I’m letting Percy jump onto my bed straight after a run at the beach without a bath first. I love him. But I love sleeping in a bed not full of sand as well.
Enter house washing.
House Washing at Macmasters Beach
With house washing we’re usually talking about dirt, mould, cobwebs, and algae. Right now as you’re reading this, the outside of your house is likely teeming with mould. If your driveway has black marks on it that look like dirt, half of them are probably mould. The eaves of your house? Mould. Your roof? Absolutely covered in mould. Especially if it’s pourous concrete tiles that haven’t had any love in many years. Mould mould mould. Now, to be fair, this mould is outside and I have no evidence to believe that it’s bad for your health or anything. But given the choice, I’d say no mould for me thanks! Unless it’s in my cheese, I’ll pass. Too many health problems I’ve seen in my family and circle of friends from mouldy houses. And the mould just looks plain unsightly as well.
So how does soft washing take care of mould? And how does soft washing compare to pressure cleaning in regards to mould removal?
Our soft washing process using a specialised cleaning solution that kills mould and organics. Pressure cleaning does a pretty good job, however it’s more blasting the mould away, not killing it. With soft washing, we spray our gentle cleaning solution onto the walls and eaves of your home, let it dwell for about ten minutes, and then rinse it off. It is by far the most effective way to clean the outside of your home, and the longest lasting method as well. Why is it longer lasting?
Well consider your lawn. What happens if you run over your weeds with the lawnmower? Weeds are back next week. What do you have to do to get rid of them for good? Pull them out or poison them.
Pressure cleaning is like mowing your lawn, and mould is like the weeds. Pressure cleaning gets rid of what’s on the surface, but the mould will just come back quickly. Soft washing is like using poison to get rid of your weeds. Except of course that our solution is safe and sound. It’s still a chemical, so we take all the necessary precautions, but your garden will be fine and your pets will be able to run around straight after without a problem.
Consider, also, the dirt on the outside of your home and how often you get it painted. If you’re getting the outside of your home painted every ten years, I’m sure you’ve noticed that things being to look rough many years before that! Enter house washing. We can get your home looking like a fresh coat of paint for often about 10% of the cost. Eventually of course you’ll need a coat of paint, but we can make the journey there much more comfortable and in some situations extend the life of your paint as well.
