Free Volunteer Window & Gutter Cleaning Central Coast

Shine Bright Property Maintenance provides free volunteer window and gutter cleaning services to families in need throughout the Central Coast.

Please send us a message and we’ll let you know what our availability is like to help.

We currently only have the capacity to help with small-medium houses. If your house can be cleaned by one of our team members in half a day, then your place is about the perfect size. 1-storey houses with 2-4 bedrooms that are less than 250m2 are usually good to go. If your house is larger than this, we will just focus on cleaning the most critical areas.

What do I have to do to qualify for a free gutter or window clean?

Simply submit a request on behalf of a loved one or yourself using our application form or email us here.

We are looking to help families going through tough times, either due to a temporary or long-term situation. Health problems are the most likely reason people message in for help, but there are no limitations to who we will visit.

We have helped families who are elderly and have little family around to help, people with disabilities, those going through hip-replacements, cancer treatment, and more. This is by no means an exhaustive list and we would love to be able to help everyone we can.

You can nominate someone you know, or yourself.

How does the program work?

If we are being honest, our volunteer program is a little selfish! There are times where we get last-minute or day-beforehand cancellations, and we need work to fill our days for our couple of employees. We have amazing team members and we want their working days to be full and productive. Usually, when we receive a cancellation and have nothing to do in its place, we spend the time cleaning the trucks or we do some training. And we absolutely still do this, but there’s only so many times you can clean your ute. As such, our volunteer program is a wonderful way to make sure that our days are well spent. Really, you’re helping us by being part of the program!

The only catch is that 24hrs notice is usually the most we’ll ever be able to give you if you are on our volunteer list. This is because you are filling the gaps in our schedule where we don’t have enough time to book in one of our usual clients. However, there is a limit to this. We guarantee we will get to you within 4 weeks of being approved. As the 4-week mark approaches, we will book you into our schedule and ensure that we take care of you. As a result, we feel that everyone wins. You get free cleaning and we keep our days full.

Why else do we do this volunteer work?

Well I guess I might not have introduced myself properly to you yet. Hi there! My name’s Micah, I’m the owner and founder of Shine Bright. The Central Coast has happily been my home for 25 years. My little business that I started in early 2021 has been moulded by some serious health concerns in my family, and is built on the foundation of taking care of my loved ones. Let me explain.

I started Shine Bright because my brother got in a life-threatening accident at work and spent two months in ICU. He has since made a pretty good recovery, but it was a life-changing moment for my entire family. With the amount of time we spent at the hospital, I noticed that taking care of my house took a real backseat. I can only imagine what families who deal with this for many many months have to endure. Cleaning the windows and gutters definitely aren’t your priority – they’re often the first thing to be ignored. It’s a big reason why we do the volunteer work

As a result of the accident, my dad, who my brother and I worked with, decided it was time for a change of pace. We had help from a great friend of ours, and we started our cleaning business. For months I only had a day or two of work per week whilst my amazing wife Sequoia largely supported us. After about a year and a half, work had picked up enough that it was providing us with what we needed. It was a huge relief.

Which is about when my Sequoia ended up in ICU herself, which was very ironic because she was working in ICU at the time behind the desk! The experience was less than great. She had to stop working as a long-term result of the illness, and as such Shine Bright became the sole provider for the family. Seeing the strength she has to keep happy despite her health makes me want to do something small to help others in similar situations.

So yeah, health seems to be a consistent theme with the major milestones of the business. There are times when you have to focus your entire attention on your loved ones and just making it through the week. Sometimes you’re focused on growing your work skills or business to better take care of your family. And there are times when you’re able to take care of those in your wider community. All of these things are important. Each one is a season we go through. Sometimes you just have to focus on one thing. So, whenever things are going well for us, we want to default to a season of helping others. So please, get in touch! We’d love to help you.
